Childbase prides itself on regularly reviewing the benefits its offers our people; recognising employee's needs and desires change over time. We listen to what our people tell us, whether through team briefings, road shows, reviews or via the Partnership Council, our employee representative group. We want to hear your comments and where possible, ensure you are receiving an employment package that you consider appropriate and rewarding. As well as providing over and above the statutory minimum for holiday and sick pay we provide a number of other benefits. Each November we send Total Reward Statements to all of our people which goes someway to demonstrating how much we value our employees.

Employee Ownership - You as a Partner

Become an employee owner in the months of May and November by purchasing shares and/or beginning to save in our Childbase All Employee Share Plan (CASP) scheme from May. These savings will be used to buy shares at the following years Dealing Day and we will even give you one free matching share for every share you buy. For further information please click here.

Communicate with us

You will have access to our Company Intranet where lots of Company information will be available to you, including our internal messaging service. You will also meet Company Directors through Listening Lunches and Road shows, as well as your Partnership Councillor who will represent your views on Company issues.


You and Your wellbeing

Look after your wellbeing through our healthcare scheme

We offer a Company Healthcare Scheme, which is free to all employees, after three years service, to recognise their commitment to Childbase. Through the Foresight Health Cash Scheme you are able to claim back costs associated with routine healthcare such as new prescription glasses, dental treatment, physiotherapy and consultations. You also have quick and unlimited access to MRI and CT scanning facilities as well as a range of heath services designed to help support your overall wellbeing. In addition to assist your family children under the age of 18 years can be added to your scheme for free and partners can be added at a reduced rate.

You will be provided with a professional and durable uniform, free of charge, that will ensure you look professional in the role that you carry out with us.

Look after your wellbeing further

If private healthcare wasn't enough, we will also offer you free eye tests and free flu jabs, all to help you take responsibility for your wellbeing. In addition there is fresh fruit available and filtered water, at all of your settings. We also have access and support through our Occupational Health Therapist. We also run a number of wellbeing initiatives throughout the year as part of our YOU Matter Wellbeing Strategy.

Be rest assured if you're not well

We recognise that sometimes our people are not well enough to attend work therefore we support our employees with a generous sickness scheme of up to 8 weeks full pay within a rolling year.


Supporting You and Your family

Get discount on your childcare costs

As part of our family friendly commitment we are able to offer parents, legal guardians and grandparents the opportunity to apply for generous discounts of 20% -50% on any hours of childcare provided in a Childbase Nursery.

Save tax and national insurance contributions on childcare

You can sacrifice some of your salary each month and receive childcare vouchers in return to pay for any of your external childcare costs.

Flexible Working

Apply through our Flexible Working Policy to change your working hours to aid your work/life balance. If it suits us too, we'll do it but even if we can't do it we will work with you to assist where possible.

Dependency Leave

For emergency leave to look after dependents, we will pay you up to 3 days in a rolling year. We will also support you through difficult times with up to 3 days compassionate leave paid per year for immediate family members.


Time for You

Take a break with 22 days annual leave

On joining us you will be entitled to 22 days annual leave per year, plus public/bank holidays, pro-rata for part time staff, to relax and take a break.This entitlement will increase to 25 days with length of service.

Take a longer break with more annual leave

Want to go away for longer but don't have enough leave? Everyone is given the opportunity to buy extra holiday each year up to a maximum of 5 days. In addition, you can sell up to 5 days if you don't want to take it and enjoy the extra cash.

Volunteer on us

As part of our commitment to Give Something Back, we will pay you up to one day per year, to carry out volunteering within your local community or with a charity that's close to your heart.


Rewarding You

Going the extra mile – collect and spend Smarties

If you go the extra mile you may be nominated and receive some Smarties which is our way of saying thank you. You can spend Smarties at the online Smarties store on anything from games consoles, to home furnishings, to special experiences, to vouchers for your favourite High Street stores.

Recommend a Friend

If you recommend a friend to work for Childbase you will receive £50, if they are offered a position with us. If they then pass their probation you will receive a further payment of £100-£300 dependent on how many hours that person works per week.

You and your future

Save for your retirement

Join our Stakeholder Group Personal Pension Plan on completion of 3 months service and we will match your contributions up to 3% of your monthly salary. For Managers this rises to 5%.

Be assured with Life Cover

Death can be a difficult time for family members, so our life cover will provide your nominated next of kin(s) with a tax free lump sum if this happened whilst you were in our employment.

Join our employee savings scheme

To help you save for those special times of the year, this scheme opens in January each year. If you save for the full period, your savings will attract 2% interest but you can join any time throughout the year.

Will Service – (Life benefits)

We will cover the costs of you and your partner creating a Will. We have appointed a Solicitor that will advise you through this process.

Investing in your development

If you want to continue your development through education or learn a new skill, whether work related or of personal interest funding may be available to you.

Childbase Hardship Fund

The Childbase Hardship Fund has been established is to assist all of our people who have found themselves in financial difficulties, due to something that has happened unexpectedly which has been out of their control. This scheme is able to be accessed by everyone at Childbase.
